We are so pleased to have Senator Norm Coleman as this year's key note speaker!

Senator Coleman joined Hogan Lovells after dedicating more than three decades to public service. He was a student activist in the 1960s, Minnesota's chief prosecutor and Solicitor General in the 1970s and 1980s, and Mayor of St. Paul in the 1990s. He represented Minnesota in the U.S. Senate from 2003-2009.

Working together to get things done has been his motto throughout his career, and is certainly how he operates in the collaborative environment at Hogan Lovells and in his ability to work with former colleagues in both sides of the political aisle. Whether it is on Capitol Hill, in corporate boardrooms or in foreign consulates, Senator Coleman utilizes his relationships and experiences at the highest levels of the political process to assist clients. The concept of service is close to Senator Coleman’s heart.  He is active in a variety of political organizations and non-profits.

In October, 2015, Senator Coleman was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer.  After absorbing the shock of the diagnosis, he took it head on, agreeing to participate in a trial conducted at the Mayo Clinic.  He underwent surgery and a two week course of chemotherapy and radiation.  A PET Scan in March, 2016 came back clear.  He takes every opportunity to encourage people to check out more quickly that persistent sore throat or that lump.  He benefitted from early detection, and urges others to get to the doctor.  He is a believer that from every trial comes an abundance of love, and is grateful every day to the many that pray for him and for all cancer patients.
