As a dentist, oral cancer awareness is extremely important to me. An oral cancer exam was part of every patient exam in my office. Patients often asked what I was doing pulling out their tongue while grasping the tip with a 2x2 gauze. When I told them I was looking for oral cancers they were appreciative that we made the effort and were concerned for their total oral health, not just their teeth.
