I am a general dentist practicing in Falls Church, VA. Three years ago, I had to share an oral cancer diagnosis with my patient and her husband. She had been my patient for a few years, I knew her before she was engaged and married and became a mom, one day after Covid she came in with a suspicious lesion in her upper right gum. We took a biopsy and send it to VCU. I never forget the moment I got the call that Friday afternoon and the Doctor on the phone told me that my patient had squamous cell carcinoma. I was able to put her in touch with the best surgeons in the area, and she got the surgery and the care she needed. Let's raise awareness together for this important cause.
